The Jade Bistro Vietnamese Restaurant (formerly the An Ngon) sits in a rather nondescript location in a small strip center on the west bound side of Park Blvd. just east of 60th Street. But don't miss this little spot of Asian culture, as the menu offers a delectable array of Vietnamese and Asian entrées.......... and reasonably priced, we might add. Laura Reiley, the knowledgeable and world famous food critic of the St. Petersburg Times, wrote a favorable article describing her dining experience here in February of 2009 (click here to read it), and was apparently very impressed both with the excellent tastes, and the preparation rituals of her choices. Her article describes several of the menu items that can literally make your mouth start to water. We've even been so bold as to snatch one of her photos for our display on the Jade Bistro page for our site for the viewing pleasure of our visitors.
If you've tried the Jade Bistro, a few words of commentary in a review would be welcomed by those diners out there who need to know before they venture into unfamiliar waters, so to speak.

I'll be eating in here again. Enjoyed the Peneang Neua Beef Curry - absolutely delish! But people beware.... it's hot! My husband had the Ginger Shrimp w/ Scallions and loves it! Nothing but good things to say about this place, a great LOCAL(!) establishment. I wish people would stop supporting fast food chains that are on every corner around here and eat at places like this. What a treat - AND a very reasonable prices!!

This little spot is absolutely elegant........... a hidden gem of a restaurant!! What a surprise when we walked in there the other night. I can honestly say that I have driven past here at least 100 times and never thought much of it. But, our next door neighbors were telling us about their dinner here a few weeks ago, and told us it was terrific. Both my husband and I like Asian food and we have a special affinity for Vietnamese cuisine, so we decided to give it a try. When we walked in, we felt immediately that we were in for a treat. We started with Summer Roles, which were delicious, and then I ordered the Mandarin Fried Noodles. The waitress recommended the Sauteed Beef with Lemon Grass, so he ordered that. Of course, we shared and we both agreed....... everything was EXCELLENT! And I must comment about the service: also EXCELLENT! The waiters and waitresses were dressed in neat white shirts or blouses with black slacks or skirts and were ever so polite and helpful, all in a setting of classic Asian decor with soft lighting with relaxing music playing softly in the background. The enitre evening was a pleasure and we plan to return here soon.
